The holy grail of police cars
Holy cow! In the early 80’s I was in my 20’s and piss poor and in bad need of a ride. I went to the Oregon State police auction in Salem where they had a couple of dozen these in this exact package. White on gold. I bid $200 for a low mileage (56k) and it cost a fortune to keep rear tires on it. 0-60 was a smoke show but 40-100 was a blast! The one car I wish I had never sold.
Do you still own this truck ?
That old girl was really spec'd as a work truck, no frills. I wish you could still spec a truck that way..
Hope you and Tom are doing good haven't seen you in almost a year since an upload? Lot of us are wondering about you
I had a VW Scirocco back in the day and the sounds and the feel (the sound of the doors and hood slamming) are very much the same. I too had issues with my exhaust cracking off. This was fixed when a muffler shop welded in a short flexible link pipe. It turns out the original exhaust was too ridged.
Whatever happened to the Sidewinder rebuild? I’d like to buy it if you don’t have time for it.
Cool car, cool dogs.
Gas almost $6 ...oh my god!!
I'm 30 and now I'm looking for a "old car to buy" not older than 1975 or newer than 1995 any recommendations?
The B body with a 440 was the CHP’s idea and apparently it was a hit. Also, it’s rated at 4000 RPM because that’s where peak horsepower was measured… not at redline
Gareth im diabetic and cant work, thanks to your videos i can choose foods more wisely, plus your salt of the earth m8. Keep up the good work m8 💪
I want one of these in the worst way, if you get a line on one.
Nice 60/40 split front seat and tilt wheel.
I'm looking for a 69 Polara, pref coupe but sedans are cool too, if I can find the right one - in case you know of one. I had a 69 Sport Fury, but it wasn't quite the right look for me. Know anybody? Posting 5-6-24.
MIESZKAM W POLSCE I WIEM CO TO MONACO 78
Carro maravilhoso carro show
I had a '69 GT for 37 years. Was the best car of my life.
Was hard to get parts after 2005. Had to give it up.
It's was aero dynamic ahead of it's time, just like the buyer of the Monaco when watching the dukes of Hazzard itwas my favorite car. I will be getting on to buy a diecast scale 1:18 Hazzard county.
That 440 loafs with all that torque,440s,and 413s rule.
I don't know if i'm more impressed with that 1978 Dodge Monaco or the couple driving it. Wow what a great couple. They both have a passion for automobiles that it makes me so jealous. Great video.
I like it with 4 muffs too many wannabes with loud pipes gets boring quick. Detroit Icons have nothing to prove.
Love to see the dyno of a stock lean burn 440 and top speed.
Back when cars were real cars. Plate C
I had a yellow 1970. Now I have a Charger RT. How are we not friends already? : )
Did you use a torque converter to crank this engine over? I want to fire my 440 up and was thinking of using a torque converter instead of a flywheel
I worked for a BUICK dealer who sold Opel's and Iw as the lead mechanic on them. The had a 1.1, 1.5. 1.9 engine and the 1.1 could be equipped with dual singe barrel carb, that was a big problem to keep balanced. The 1.5 engine gave use engine trouble, but the 1.9 was a screamer, especially in the GT OR RALLYE COUPE, also had an automatic transmission you could order. I loved working om the ,only problem with the 1.9 the SOLEX Carb had a tendency to flood at idle, but I found a way to fix that, by backing out the jet on the right side of the carb two turns and pinging the housing, I was the only one who had metric sockets and wrenches back then, they were neat and fun cars to work on till they got sold to a Japanese and they never were the same or as good before that happen, I still have a factory brand new steering wheel in a box, I really enjoyed working on and driving them, especially the GT COUPE, only had one blow up when the kid missed a shift and dropped a valve. Had on 1.9 one time come with a intake vale striking striking the piston ,took piston out, ring lands fine, filed top of piston smooth put new valve in the head and guy drove it from Collinsville Illinois to Chicago, never had a problem with it and owned it for years, it was a 1.9 Rallye coupe and the harder you ran them the better the better they went. Headlight were a problem if the 3 screws holding the buckets broke, the just flopped around and a bitch to get out.
It has like 180 hp to 200 hp disappointing numbers ! A V8 with a turbo should make no less then 300 hp
My first car was a 70' Dodge Dart. It was the 4 door. With the factory custom Dart trim. Factory a.c. Was not as fast as this?? 225, slant 6. Cool mopar though. My car was white. 2 tone blue!! Love this law enforcement Mopar!! Thanks for this video. Glad to see this video. An Mopar!!
Ha, we had a white 71 in the mid 70's when I was a little kid and my mother used to let me open the headlights every time we drove. Thems were the days!
One finger on the wheel, one toe on the breaks. BIG FAT foot one the pedal. Interceptor = cool man.
Reminds me of the tv show Hunter
I want one 😮💨🏁
My first car when I was 16 was a ‘71 in that same color. We spent about two years prior restoring the car. Wish I still had it.
Yeah um I miss your content. Thank you
going to be priming a la 360, what direction should i have my drill on for small block?
Was that a N drop don't do that anymore
2:71 that's it why not 3:91
You are a true enthusiast, I can tell. Weighing your car, and draggin it. Pretty cool. And 16 flat at almost 90 MPH is pretty respectable, for that car. I'm surprised the thing is as light as it is. (3600) Thanks for posting.
Can you do a video on that roof rack, looking to get one for mine !
Cool car, underrated body style. Last of the "fuselage" cars.
69 Polara Pursuit cars ran low 15's with these and with the 440's!
That's definitely true about the seat belts being twisted, when I was dailying my 78 aspen I could never get it not twisted and the beauty cover for the seat belt never stayed on lol. Measly old base model coupe with the 225 and A904 so much fun cruising until the motor started to knock after what I can only assume 182k miles.
Factory cast headers. My 440 has a dual feed double pumper holley. Engine had 375 hp and would do 150mph.
Mine had that alternator I called it the belt stretcher.
You got it to the body shop safe and sound!!
Good luck with the Dick Landy hauler!!. I will be abxious to see how it comes out!!
Cool that you were able to get those special spec books with this too!!
Sharp Polara... The ultimate sleeper!!
Some really nice rides at the show!!
